Introduction

Liberia is a country on the West African coast with a population of over 5 million people and covers an area of 111,369 square kilometers (43,000 sq mi). Islam is practiced by an estimated 20% of the country’s population.

 

The United Da’wah Ummah of Liberia is a non-profit Islamic organization that has been in existence since 1999. In accordance with its objectives, the organization is engaged in teaching and propagating Islam based on the Glorious Al Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) within the length and breath of the Republic of Liberia. The UDUL is also fully involved in impacting secular knowledge to school going students. 

The organization has over the years established mosques, schools, centers for memorization of the Noble Al Qur’an, special classes for women, special classes for converts/reverts, Dawah programs, and expanded the majlis learning activities nationwide.

All programs within the United Da'wah Ummah are fully supported by its membership, other Muslims and funds generated from the school system. 

History

 

In 1993, a group of Muslims organized a majlis (Islamic informal learning) programs headed by Sheikh Muhammad Mustapha Baldee (Hafizahullah).  

The majlis program was implemented and expanded for years at which time the members saw the need to transform into a registered organization. This would lead to more impact within the  Republic of Liberia for generations to come. In 1999, the United Da'wah Ummah of Liberia was officially registered in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Liberia. 

 

MAIN OBJECTIVES:

1. To Propagate Islam through Da'wah programs; 

2. To implement welfare programs;

3. To establish and participate in educational activities;

4. To establish a cell to train Imams;

5. To establish branches within the fifteen subdivisions of Liberia;

6. To establish contacts with other International Islamic Organizations to promote cooperation and mutual benefits such as:  

    a. Scholarship programs   

    b. Participation in Islamic conferences  

    c. Participation in International Qur’anic competitions

7. To establish and operate a Hajj and Umrah Agency

8. Establish and operate healthcare and orphanage facilities.
